Olga Helgish

Olga Helgish is a dance teacher and an active citizen in her community. Her passion for dance sparked after her husband, Igor Helgish, passed away in a tragic car accident in Riga, Latvia. She was devastated and depressed and decided that there was nothing there for her in her country anymore. Immediately afterwards she got a job as a housekeeper and saved enough money to move to America, where she could get a fresh start at life. Her aunt helped her find a house in the Hollywood area and Helgish lives with her now.

“Despite me finally receiving the fresh start I worked for and deserved, something was still empty in my heart. I remembered how much my husband Igor and I danced when he was alive and I decided that I would open my very own dance studio in my house. I teach ballet for $25 dollars an hour, for anyone interested,” said Heligsh.

Besides her dance class, she is an active participant in  weekly neighborhood council meetings  in her gated community, trying to make her area nicer day by day.

“We can expect some nice changes in our area, and I plan to run for the president of the neighborhood council one day,” said Helgish.
