Brenda Garcia – Today Is My Day Soaps

Forty year old Brenda Garcia came from Brazil to America in 2007 with her husband, Fernando, and daughter, Clara, seeking a better life.

Garcia is a woman of many talents. She mostly focuses on arts and crafts including sculpting, painting and soap making.

Twelve years later, Garcia created her own shop and named it “Today Is My Day Soaps”, which specializes in handcrafted, specially scented soaps.

Scents and shapes include fruits, flowers, and even chocolate.

“I want my soaps to represent more than just a plain, old bar of brand soap, ” Garcia said. “I want it to represents my dream. Anyone can do anything that makes them happy.”

Starting with little to no materials and a strong language barrier, Garcia struggled to get where she is now, and so, she fears not being able to keep her business open.

“It already happened once to my family and me,” Garcia said. “Our business was open at the Yellow Green Farmers Market, and we had to shut it down. I’m scared to lose everything and I won’t be able to give my daughter the life I never had.”

Garcia now only sells her soaps through her website, which is updated daily by her husband.

Garcia plans to keep creating soaps for her business with her family standing by her side.
