Ever thought about becoming a district winner in backstroke swimming? Well ask Alex Monero, a student from SBHS, who won the district final swimming meet. Monero has come a long way from swimming in the rivers of Cuba to being a district finalist in Broward and possibly a future gold medal winner in the Olympics. Monero is a very talented swimmer who is on his way to regionals. Me and Monero sat down for an interview and I asked him a few very important questions about how he prepare for a swim meet, he said, “The way I prepare for a big swim meet is by getting a goodnight sleep and eat plenty of healthy food, I always try to stay focused and be mentally focused and stay on top of my game.” According to Monero, it takes hours of training, physical fitness, and straight mental focus to become a top swimmer. Alex hopes to bring the regional title back to South Broward and fulfil his dream in becoming a Gold medalist in the Olympics.
