The members of the Black Lives Matter movement are demanding results from Joe Biden once he is made president but certain news outlets are making the statement from the group seem threatening. The co-founder of the BLM movement sent the message to Biden on November 7, 2020, but the meaning behind the statement was that since the black community voted and got the soon to be president to win, it was time for Joe Biden to hold up his end of the deal which was to make a difference.

In her letter to Biden BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors wrote “Without the resounding support of Black people, we would be saddled with a very different electoral outcome.”

She then went one and claimed that it was the help of the African-American community that helped President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris win the 2020 election.

President-elect  Joe Biden addressed the black community in a victory speech held in Delaware.

He said, “Especially those moments when this campaign was at its lowest ebb, the African American community stood up again for me.”

He also tells us that “You’ve always had my back, and I’ll have yours.” He basically tells us that since the African-American community scratched his back, he would repay the gesture and do the same.

What the members of the movement want Biden to do once he takes the presidential role in January is to defund the police and reform the justice system. While there aren’t any signs that Biden will take back his promise to the movement, the activists want to ensure Biden will hold his end of the deal.

The election between President Trump (Republican) and President-elect Joe Biden (Democratic) was not going to have a close difference. Considering the way the current president responded to a global pandemic that killed about 246 thousand Americans and what he referred the BLM movement to, it was no surprise that Joe Biden had the most electoral votes.

While American’s wanted change President Trump them to be silent. When speaking on his plans to calm the protest down the President of the United States said “-And at some point, there’s going to be retribution because there has to be. These people are vandals, but they’re agitators, but they’re really — they’re terrorists, in a sense.”

The vandals, agitators, and terrorists the president is speaking of are the Black Lives Matter protestors. The American people who want their voice heard. The very people who he serves.

President Trump has never really kindly addressed the black community or never has really spoken of a plan to put an end to the corruption in the justice system. Instead, he deflects the open racism in America.

The citizens of America made sure to take note of the president’s actions and words over the 4 years he’s been in office, which is why Joe Biden had a big boost.

The African-American community deserves what Joe Biden promised he would do. Many hope (including myself) that his speeches to defund the police and help the black community rise wasn’t just for votes.

For many years the police have stepped on the necks of the African-American community and they’ve gotten away with it because of their shiny badges. President-elect Joe Biden is who we believe to be the change, the person who will ensure that change for us minorities will happen.

The BLM members were not threatening the president. They were just sending out a reminder,  a reminder that they will not be forgotten and will speak up.

President-elect Biden, you owe us this one.

Marcellis Stinnette, Jonathan Dwayne Price, Rayshard Brooks, Dijon Durand Kizzee, George Perry Floyd, Tamir Rice, Breonna Taylor, Walter Scott, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Botham Jean, Deon Kay, Stephon Clark, and the many other unarmed victims you will receive the justice you deserve.
