Democrat Doug Jones was elected for Senate in Alabama making him the first Democrat to be in office  since 1992. Alabama is not Republican state anymore.

After many allegations were presented against Roy Moore, the Republican runner-up, Jones had the opportunity to campaign and show Alabama that he is someone they need. Even though Moore denied all of the accusations made against him, the people of Alabama decided to take no chances and voted for the DemocraticParty for the first time in 25 years.

Jones was widely supported by black voters that saw his past as a Ku Klux Klan prosecutor as a strength for Alabama. Almost 96% of blacks voted for him and whites gave their support as well, more than ever before in an Alabama election.

“At the end of the day, this entire race has been about dignity and respect” Jones said after the election rally. ”This campaign has been about the law. This campaign has been about common courtesy and decency and making sure that everyone in this state regardless of which zip code you live in, is going to get a a fair shake.”
