Angie Barnett-Concierge in Hallandale Beach

Angie Barnett, is a helper, and ready for action apartment building manager. Barnett does everything around this apartment complex, from changing water alarms, dealing with paperwork, to managing everyone’s safety. She loves her job and wouldn’t change it for the world.

Originally from Connecticut, Barnett comes from a family of six, which includes three brothers, a mom, and a dad. She and her family moved to Florida when she was only 10 years old. Barnett is family oriented and her biggest fear is her parents “leaving her in this world”. Growing up was happy for her and she stated

“It’s different for you guys growing up, we didn’t have to lock our doors and we didn’t grow up with phones. We were told to go do our homework and then go play outside until it was time to eat,” she said, “Even at dinner time, we weren’t allowed to talk to anyone else except for our family, it was between 5-6 and the rule was no friends during this dinner.”

While Barnett is family oriented, she is also focused at work, she loves what she does and makes the sacrifice of commuting every day. Barnett lives 30 miles away from her job in Margate Florida, but doesn’t mind the commute.

“I love my job and love it here,” she said.

Before working as a manager she owned a restaurant, a cleaning business and her ex-husband owned a tile company.

In her position, her list of “chores” is a long one and contains so much to do. She is always busy; she answers phone calls, helps anybody with anything, watches the cameras, does a lot of paperwork, deals with contractors and makes sure they are able to work and works hard at keeping everyone safe.

“If I see anyone come into the building I don’t know, I find out who they are and find out where they need to go,” said Barnett.

The one thing she would do something about in the world?

“Poverty, poverty, and poverty,” she said.

She also said that if she had the money to help, she would donate more.

Spending time with her three great-nephews, ages three, six and ten, are her greatest joy in life.  She is excited to celebrate life, especially the new great-niece or nephew on the way.

Barnett knows she is a hardworking woman with a great personality, which she loves about herself.

“There isn’t anything I’d change, I kinda like me,” she said.
