Ayla Kayan, Editor
Ayla Kayan, 16, is a sophomore at SBHS, who enjoys playing sports. In her free time, she swims, plays volleyball and plays water polo. Kayan also enjoys spending time with her friends and her dog, a German Shepard named Zara.
This is Kayan’s second year in the Journalism class. She joined as a freshman, and has already progressed to the role of Editor. Kayan loves to write, and she appreciates the experience that this class provides.
“I’ve always enjoyed writing, and being in Mrs. Mayorga’s class is just a perk,” said Kayan.
Kayan likes to travel, and she has visited many places throughout her life. Just last year, she visited Michigan, Ireland, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and Turkey, which is where her family is from.
“I love traveling because I can explore and see different people, places, and cultures,” said Kayan. “It’s really fascinating because I can have a more worldly view of things.”
One person Kayan looks up to is her older sister Leyla, who graduated from SBHS in 2022.
“I look up to my sister, even though she’s shorter than me,” said the sophomore.
