From the car crash on I-95 in Fort Lauderdale to the fact that China might invade Taiwan, those are the reasons SBHS senior Marlon Mazariegos joined The Bulldog Bark. As a staff reporter he hopes to discover things about the journalism scene he didn’t know before. Marlon loves excitement and has an urge to be out and about. An urge that COVID crushed for a while.

“I don’t do activities as much as I would like to and I hope to change that, Over COVID I've had to find new ways of entertaining myself”. Said Mazariegos.

That’s where the interest of this class comes in. Researching news articles and catching up on current events around the would helped him get through quarantine.

Mazariegos recently started a long distance relationship that stretches from Michigan to Florida.

“I believe this has shown people how committed and determined I am when it comes to something I had interest for. In this case it was Kaylie Dickerson, we met online and after a few months of just texts we met. I was able to travel to Michigan where I had the time off my life with Kaylie and her family. We went tubing, horse riding, and exploring. This was the first time I have traveled alone and I had an amazing time.” said Mazariegos.

When he was nine, his father unexpectedly passed away, and his tight knit family got even closer.

“When that happened I wasn’t just raised by my mom I was brought up by my whole family. Each one of my family members have helped me create childhood memories.
