All I Want for Christmas is: Peace
Every year around this time everyone has a list of what they want for Christmas. But what if you were asked ‘’If you could have one thing for Christmas/Hanukkah, but it can’t be something that comes from a store or that you could buy, what would it be?’’
Fifteen year old Chelsey Mitterhofer wants peace for Christmas.
For Mitterhofer, this year has been hectic.
“With a global pandemic that caused millions of deaths, riots, racism, a crazy presidential election, possible WW III threats, for most we had to end and start school virtually, and the list goes on,” she said.
Mitterhofer wants peace because it is a way that we won’t be affected by violence and for us to see a better future in the years ahead.
‘’It’s important to have peace because the future generations can receive a better, equal, peaceful, a more beautiful world,’’ said Mitterhofer.
She says peace is something that we need especially going into the new year.
‘’If I were to share this gift, I would share peace with everyone,’’ said Miiterhofer.
Sharing peace is important because it brings everyone close together, it makes everyone equal, and we can understand each other.
‘’Having peace is important to us because it can help stop racism,” said Mitterhofer. “Everyone can be equal to each other and for people to stop fighting for the dumbest things.’’
She has an idea on how to spread world peace:
‘’I would go up to a big stage or just have a microphone and spread it out to everyone,” said Mitterhofer.
