No to Assault Rifles

David Mangru is a freshman at South Broward High School. Like a lot of people in Florida, Mangru has his own thoughts and opinions on gun control. The tragic Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting left many Americans in shock, and the incident reignited the controversial debate over the United States’ gun legislation.

When asked what will he do about gun control, Mangru addressed the sale of assault rifles. Mangru does not agree with the sale of assault rifles; Mangru’s opinion is similar to the beliefs of people who advocate for better gun control.

“I don’t think a person should be able to buy an assault rifle,” said Mangru.

However, Mangru does believe that both handguns and hunting rifles are acceptable weapons. If Mangru were to take on gun control he would most likely permit the sale of handguns and hunting rifles.

In addition, Mangru will not go to local protests for better gun control. Mangru will also not be participating the major protest March For Our Lives on March 24th, 2018 mainly because of a recent medical issue.

“I understand the movement, but I don’t believe in the protests and the marching,” said Mangru.

When asked on whether he would advocate for better gun control in the U.S., Mangru responded by saying,”I believe by the time I’m older there will be better gun control.”

Moreover, Mangru believes that affiliation with the NRA should determine whether you support politicians.
