Elizabeth Bonet

A psychotherapist and a certified hypnotherapist, 49-year-old Elizabeth Bonet has her fair share of stories to tell. She’s a mother of two girls and an active member of her community- even volunteering at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital as a “baby holder”- but her bread and butter is helping people with sometimes odd psychological issues through therapy.

 “I’ve had a patient that would get nauseous due to motion sickness. It got so bad she couldn’t even focus on the fan spinning,” said Bonet.

In all her years, she’s had some strange and difficult cases.

“There was this woman who was terrified of roadkill,” she said. “ If she saw it, she’d have to turn her car around and if she hit it? She’d have to wash her car 10 times, go home and take five showers!”

   Bonet says the most challenging part of her job is the business side. The scheduling, the promoting, as well as some of the hard to solve problems seen above. However, Bonet says she loves her job.

    “I treat anxiety and OCD primarily. I specialize in it,”she said.

As for the hypnotizing biz? The doctor says she uses all kinds of methods to put her patients in a trance and  gives them helpful suggestions.

    “It’s a tough job sometimes for sure,” she said. “But it’s my living, and I get to help people. The difficult patients are worth it when I finally help them deal with their problems in a healthy way.”
