Faith Aristil

Faith Aristil is a junior at South Broward High School. She has been quarantined since the outbreak started, and is afraid to go out because she does not want to risk her family’s safety. Her and her relatives wear their maks whenever they go out in public.

She has relatives who are susceptible to catching COVID and believes that it is very selfish to not do something as harmless as wearing a mask.

“It doesn’t affect your day to day life emotionally or physically, there is absolutely no medical condition that prohibits you from wearing a mask,” said Aristil.

However, she does find it difficult to exercise when wearing a mask. She believes that there should be a better way for gyms to operate that still comply with COVID rules.

“It is rare to see someone wearing their mask properly, it’s either below the nose or completely off,” she said, “if actions aren’t taken soon it’s going to be a breeding ground for this virus.”

While at the gym, Aristil finds herself out of breath while exercising so she also pulls her mask down.

“Sometimes I fear that I will get infected, but what else can I do,” said Aristil, “exercising at home is impossible because all of the exercise equipment is out of stock.”

She is grateful for the free time that the pandemic has given her, but it has been difficult for her to utilize it.

Since wearing a mask, she tends to back away from people, and she also avoids interaction altogether. One of the most frustrating changes she has had to deal with is others finding it difficult to hear her.

“Without the mask, people can hear me perfectly,” said Aristil, “since we had to wear masks, people have been asking me to repeat myself which is just frustrating.”

She hates the fact that this is the new norm. Seeing everyone wear a mask isn’t the future that she had seen. Aristil does not want this to go on for any longer.

“Once everyone obeys the rules, this won’t have to be the norm anymore,” she said.
