How Members of the Religious Community feel about the New Song Montero
On March 26, 2021 American singer/rapper Lil Nas X released the very controversial music video for Montero which premiered at the no. 1 spot on the top billboard 100 on the first day out.
The music video was so controversial and Nas got a lot of backlash from many members of the community, but from some, he got praised.
However, after the release of the music video, he released a shoe nicknamed the “Satan Shoes”.
Only 666 pairs will be released, all having an inverted cross, a pentagon, the biblical verse Luke 10:18, and a drop of real human blood.
Hollywood resident Jose Ortiz, a 42-year-old who when in his youth lived in Hollywood Florida, was asked on his thoughts of the video and how he felt about it.
“I was very disgusted by the portrayal of Lil Nas X as Eve, along with how he went to heaven and decided to go to hell,” said Ortiz.
When asked if he thought that the music video would change the perspectives of people and how they view modern music makers, he explained that he believed it would encourage listeners to hear the deeper meaning in songs.
“It’s honestly sad to me on how this is what the future is learning and it just breaks my heart,” said Ortiz.
When asked how he felt and if this would have a chance on the course of history, he said it wouldn’t change too much but he still doesn’t admire it.
“It will have an impact against it,” said Ortiz
Ortiz felt a bit disrespected on how he lives his life and on who and what he praises? He feels Nas invaded a sensitive place to many members of the religious community
“I didn’t like it because it’s as if he was mocking my religion and what we believe in,” said Ortiz
Lastly, when asked about the shoes he had a strong opinion of them.
“They creeped me out and left a bad taste in my mouth after looking at them,” said Ortiz
