Lloyd McFarlane, Spanish Teacher

Lloyd McFarlane is a loving father and a popular Spanish teacher at South Broward High School.

“I show up every day, just so I can make a small impact on my students large futures,” he said.

He has been apart of the Bulldog faculty for six years now, and has found a family of his own in all of his colleagues.

“The South Broward community is like no other,” said McFarlane, “Every single person is so excepting and eager to learn about your story.”

He grew up in Minnesota, but started his very own family right here in South Florida. He has one son, Sean, 7, and he hopes that one day Sean will join the Bulldog community.

McFarlane has traveled around the globe, but the one place he maintains a connection with is Costa Rica. He took a trip with FIU for a year to learn Spanish first hand. This helped shape his career as a Spanish language teacher. He found a love for the Spanish language and sees the beauty of being bilingual.

“Every person deserves the chance to be taught a new language, it challenges yourself to learn and creates a future in something new,” he said.
