Luca Raza

Luca Raza is a 14-year-old freshman at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory. Like most teenagers, these days, COVID-19 and wearing a mask has taken a huge toll on her day-to-day life. The difference is, she’s already back at school for in-person learning.

Raza says masks have changed the way she interacts with others. She feels as if it’s much harder to know the facial expression someone is making. Raza finds herself making much more eye contact, which makes her very uncomfortable.

“I hate eye contact, and people make so much more eye contact now,” she said.

The Chaminade-Madonna freshman is very diligent in her mask-wearing, and wears it anytime she goes to a public place. At any time she doesn’t wear a mask, she makes sure she’s standing six feet away from others.

“I do wear a mask because I don’t want to get the virus, and I care about my health,” said Raza.

As for her favorite mask, it’s light pink. She makes sure to wear that one or another while going to school and any place with other people.

“Pink is my favorite color so that obviously had to be the color of my mask,” she said.
