Michael Haddad

Michael Haddad, a senior at South Broward High School, feels that face masks help control the spread of COVID-19, and should be worn.

“It is important to wear a mask when around people outside of your house, especially in an indoor place where it’s hard to stay away from others,” said Haddad,

He believes that masks and social distancing are essential to preventing more coronavirus cases.

He and his family take this pandemic very seriously. They have to because his father has a pre-existing condition that makes him vulnerable to the virus.

“My dad has diabetes and is more likely to experience severe symptoms and complications if he gets the virus,” he said.

He admits that when he is with close friends, he doesn’t wear a mask. But when he does, he wears a cloth mask.

“Preferably my black mask,” said Haddad, “it’s more comfortable than the disposable ones.”

He says he finds himself making more eye contact with people while wearing a mask.

“I mean, all I can see is their eyes,” said Haddad.
