Nayelli Pagan Salome:The Girl From All Over The World
For 18-year-old Nayelli Pagan Salome, Florida Virtual School was a necessity. Due to her family’s financial circumstances, she continuously found herself in a new house with, once again having to adapt to new surroundings. Because of these circumstances, she moved all over the world. From Pennsylvania to Asia to Puerto Rico to her current stop, Hallendale Beach, Florida, where she now adapts to her new Floridian lifestyle.
Her pedigree is a rich mix of Asian, Africa-American, Puerto Rican and Indian blood. Due to her constant moving across the world, she learned how to speak English, Spanish and Chinese, and aspires to add French to her linguistic repertoire.
Although, she wished she could have had a more stable home-life and more stable education, she is happy that she moved because it showed her that there is still so much to experience in this life. It has truly changed her perspective on the world.
With all of her worldly travel and knowledge, the one piece of advice Salome would give is: Be yourself.
“I wish I could show people that they don’t have to live their life based on peoples opinions, and just live how you want,” she said.
With a brave and bold personality, she does however have a great fear of spiders.
“They creep me out, not to mention they can be deadly,” she said. “And well, who isn’t afraid of spiders honestly?”
She’s often found in Hollywood Central Library where she diligently studies for her dream future career in the culinary arts and hopes to open up her own restaurant one day in France.
“This is my dream,” she said. “To live in France and do what I love, cooking.”
