Neveah Fertil

Wearing a mask every day can make it dirty. However, Neveah Fertil, a senior at South Broward High School, has come up with a suggestion to keep everyday masks clean and fresh: tea tree oil.

“I put a little on my mask to make it smell good,” said Fertil.

After she washes her mask, Fertil likes to add a hint of tea tree oil to the outside fabric of her mask so it has a nice and relaxing scent. She only does this one time whenever she washes her mask, so that it doesn’t become an overwhelming scent.

Fertil doesn’t mind wearing a mask. She wears it because health and safety experts recommend it.

Her favorite mask that she owns is made out of black fabric and fits well around her ears, as well as her nose, mouth, and cheeks.

“I wear it as often as I go into public buildings where there are people,” she said.

Although none of her immediate family members have contracted the virus, Fertil still wears her mask diligently. Most of the people around her diligently wear their masks as well.

“My whole family and my immediate friends all use masks for the health of themselves and others,” said Fertil.
