Nothing Will Help

There are many different opinions on gun control and what the solution is to stopping it, or if we even can stop it. Kai McPhee stated his opinion on the whole idea of gun control.

“There’s not any for sure way to control these weapons, it’s our own literal right as Americans to own them,” said McPhee. His opinion was strongly in-between as he fought believing that there might not be a way to stop guns being owned by anyone. “They can, however, be limited. We can’t stop it but we can slow it down.

The numerous protests that continue to occur all across Broward County, as well as other states, all are trying to persuade our country that it should start acting upon proper gun control. McPhee didn’t really feel that it had much of an effect on our government.

“I think they’re kind of dumb, all they end up being is a filler for when the news doesn’t have anything to report.” The freshman doesn’t plan to go to any of these local protests any time soon.
The real statement that is crossing the nation is President Trump’s recent idea on having armed teachers in all schools. And that’s the real question: should there be armed teachers in schools? Like many others, McPhee is on the ‘nay’ side of this proposition.

“That’s a terrible idea. Firstly, what happens if a teacher panics and misses and ends up helping the enemy, or what happens if the teacher shoots a student or security guard?”

His opinion was strongly noted that there is too many consequences and ‘what ifs’ to having this idea come a reality. “There are just too many variables making this dangerous and sadly there aren’t any supporting this idea. It won’t make schools safer if anything more dangerous.”

Gun control might never be decided upon, but armed teachers are the one thing that lots of people, including the freshman, have agreed upon: it’s a bad idea. “In what way would having loaded firearms on teachers, who are one of the most stressful group of people in society, a good idea?”
