Peter Cristancho

For 61-year-old, Peter Cristancho, wearing a mask is a matter of life or death. He has asthma, so if he catches the virus it would be fatal.

“I have COPD which so it’s definitely scary and I could land in the hospital,” he said.

Cristancho is a debt collector who works in an office with four other people. He is very susceptible to COVID.

“Well, I need to be more careful and restrict myself from going out only to get my essential needs like groceries,” Cristancho said.

He wears a mask wherever he goes, but he admits that sometimes when he goes to restaurants or walks outside he doesn’t wear one.

“I only take my mask off to eat or when I’m at home,” said Cristancho.

He tries to wear one as much as possible. His family also wears masks and are strong believers in mask-wearing.

Cristancho sees people wearing masks for a long time because many people are not listening to the rules. They are not wearing masks when they’re supposed to outside of their house.

“I think people will be wearing a mask for another year until they find a vaccine,” he said.
