SBHS junior Alexis Leon had more of an emotional tether to the case. She feels as if at any moment her Black brother can also be killed wrongfully, just as George Floyd was.

“I have a brother, a Black brother, who any minute can be seen as a threat and can be added to the list of wrongfully killed unarmed black men,” said Leon.

She agrees with the Chauvin’s guilty verdict, but feels as if his potential sentencing is not enough.

“He purposefully took away another man’s life, he deserves to be serving life with no parole,” said Leon.
