Sharlene Ferguson

Sharlene Ferguson is the girl’s basketball coach here at South Broward High School. She’s had a strong passion for basketball ever since she was a child, and became serious about the sport in middle school. Coach Ferguson planned to continue playing at Miami Dade Community College, but had to stop due to a blown out knee. However, a bum knee would not stop the drive she had for the sport.

She started coaching at Miami North Western, then moved Broward. It was her love for the game, and a daughter who loved it just as much as she had, that pushed her to start coaching.

“Working with kids and watching them grow is something I have always loved,” said Coach Ferguson. Outside of South Broward, she coaches the Hollywood Eagles, a group of 7th graders that she has worked with for the past two years at the Martin Luther King Community Center in Broward County.

She wants everyone who ever plays basketball to live by one motto, and that motto is, “Play the ball- don’t let the ball play you.”
