The love for Solo Ensemble with Valentina Paldino
Solo Ensemble is a music festival where musicians play a handpicked solo from the FMEA (Florida Music Educators Association) list. This year, there are a couple of students participating from South Broward High School, but one person stands out: Clarinet player Valentine Paladino. Paldino has been playing clarinet for five years now and is a sophomore in south broward. The solo she’s playing is Fantasia and rondo by C.W. Weber and it’s a grade 6 solos. Grade 5 and over are difficult solos that you can play. Paldino decided she will play a great grade 6.
“It’s was difficult at first but now I am used to it”
Paladin is performing her solo in solo ensemble with her accompanied pianist. The solo she is playing requires a piano so she has to hire a piano player to play with her. If not, she can get disqualified. She is striving to obtain a superior rating in her solo so she can move on to states. (Superior is the highest rating you can get on your solo)
“I would be absolutely thrilled if I went to states”
Paldino does not mind performing on Valentines Day. She thinks of it as a date with her clarinet. The Clarinetist loves what she plays and will love to pursue the love for music as a career.
“Well valentines day is a day of love so I don’t mind doing what I love.”
