Zachariah Perez Jr., Brother

Zachariah Perez Jr. is a 20-year-old freshman at  Broward College.  Throughout life, he has had many hard-ships especially with public schooling. According to Perez, he was bullied extensively, by students and teachers alike.

“They would pick on me. Tease me. Mock me. Even get physical with me,” he said. “All I am autistic and have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).”

But no matter what anyone said, he continued on. Even though people thought he wouldn’t even graduate from high school, he proved everyone wrong on June 3rd, 2019 by walking across the stage to get his diploma.

Now he is a counselor at Cypress Bay High School, working towards his dream to become a high school teacher. He doesn’t want to anymore teenagers to suffer what he went through, and his goal is to make sure that people think of him as a safe person to come and talk to about anything.

He has five siblings, four sisters and one brother. Melanie, his older sister, is his favorite. She has supported him through out all of his hard-ships. She has truly been there for him even when his mom was busy.

After graduating Broward College with his bachelors degree in education, he hopes to become a high school teacher at Cypress Bay, teaching U.S History.

“When the going get tough, you get tougher,” said Perez Jr.
