Jordy Stvaer, From Student to Teacher

Jordy Stvaer is a 21-year-old singer, writer, and painter. He’s the current owner and instructor of the Polaris Art and Creative Writing School in Managua, Nicaragua.

The school of Art and Creative Writing, Polaris, was designed to work as a therapy art. The purpose of this school is to teach students about art by arriving through a philosophical process, achieving a mixture in the power of creativity, and in addition to the ability to write and draw without limits with the sections taught.

He graduated from the Espiras Art Academy in Nicaragua and has a certificate of presentation in the National Palace of Art and Culture in Nicaragua.

He began writing and drawing when he was five years old when his mother gave him his first diary in which he would write stories that would disconnect from reality so he could explain himself his own feelings.

When Mr. Stvaer was 18 years old, he was diagnosed with depression.

“I truly believe that one’s mental health is related to their art,” said Mr. Stvaer. “It’s a reflection of someone’s feelings. Some type of mirror to the soul.”
He spends most of his time writing, and drawing, this makes him feel calmed and peaceful. One of the reasons why he started his school, Polaris, is because he wanted to teach others how to deal with depression through art.

“In some way, we’re all crazy, we’re all artists when we’re doing something good. Art is not only drawing or writing. Art is doing something right,” said Mr. Stvaer.
