Keeley Malloy, SBHS Student

Keeley Malloy is a 17-year-old junior at South Broward High School who has a passion for marine life.

Her passion for the water and animals led her to becoming an experienced scuba-diver. Malloy was put through a series of scuba-diving certification tests in order to be able dive at the advanced depth of 125 feet.

In Malloy’s future, she sees herself as a Michelin chef. A Michelin chef is described as a high point in a chefs advancement stages. She wants to study at Johnson and Wales University for culinary arts which she already studies as an AP course at SBHS.

“Ive always had a burning in my heart for cooking,” said Malloy. “I enjoying mixing and adding ingredient to see a beautiful finished product. I especially enjoy cooking and baking for friends and family.”

As Malloy grew up on the water and in the kitchen, she grew a love for craftsmanship. She uses this skill in a marine tournament she competes in every year. During the tournament, she and her team are required to build a boat out of plywood, marine caulking, and zip-ties. The team then has to race the boat in a tournament against well trained competitive marine athletes. The widely known tournament can offer multiple scholarships for competitors, which Malloy is determined to receive.
