Pierre Jean-Francois

Every day when he goes to work, Pierre Jean-Francois pays a dollar for a mask. He says it’s a struggle because you can’t do anything without it.

“I feel like wearing a mask is agitating and easy to forget about,” he said, “especially during work when I wear a mask, it makes my skin break out and it’s very hard to breathe.”

Jean-Francois’s uncle had COVID-19, so he has to be very cautious.

It’s very hard to see your family member going through pain,” he said.

He wears a mask because it’s required to go into any stores, and to stay safe. Whenever he steps out of the house he puts a mask on. He believes that for the next two years we will be in the same predicament.

For him, wearing a mask means he makes more eye contact with people. He finds it hard to connect to a person with a mask on. Jean-Francois tries to have less eye contact with people than before because sometimes he doesn’t like looking people in the eye.

When he doesn’t have a mask on, he tries his best to stay six feet away from others. However, it gets hard because he is not used to living like that.
