Although wearing a mask has become the new normal in today’s society, Maykelin Meza tries to get through every day without being affected so much.

“Wearing a mask too long makes me feel like I can’t breathe and that’s not so fun,” said Meza.

Even though it makes it difficult to breathe, she wears one every time she goes out. Her dad recently had a kidney transplant and she fears that if she gets the virus and gives it to him, he could lose the kidney.

Meza’s favorite mask was given to her by a family friend.

“It’s an all-black mask,” she said.

She says that when wearing a mask wasn’t mandatory she made more contact with people. 

“I’d be nice and smile at them, or say hi and keep walking,” said Meza, “but now, since we have to wear masks and maintain six feet apart, all I can do is make eye contact because they can’t see me smiling.”
