Ally Chesal
Ally Chesal is a freshman at South Broward High School who is making a difference in our community by raising awareness about jokes and hurtful comments aimed at children with disabilities.
“No one deserves to feel left out or abnormal, because of a disability, were more alike than different and should receive the same treatment,” she said.
Chesal feels that these hurtful comments and jokes have become accepted in our community and she would like to tell people that they aren’t okay.
She feels that her voice is held stronger because she has a brother with disabilities and understands more of what it’s like to live with disabilities.
“Colby may have a disability but it doesn’t define him as person, it just makes him more lovable and unique,” she said.
She wants to use her voice to spread awareness and recruit people to stand up against jokes and negative comments.
Chesal plans on joining the club best buddies for all 4 years throughout high school, she would like to get as many people to join this club and be able to give everyone an inside look of working with kids who have disabilities.
She knows she cannot get everyone to switch their mindset, but she hopes to impact as many people in our community and help all people feel comfortable and welcomed.
