A few weeks ago, Sofia was a victim of the Flu virus that has been spreading across the United States. The Flu virus has been killing more than 4,000 people so far in the U.S. Sofia contracted the Flu from one of her friends that had it. She had the Flu for about a week. The Flu virus is a common viral infection that can be deadly, especially in high-risk groups. The Flu affected Sofia by her having a stomach ache so painful that she can barely move. She was also kept home from school. After having the Flu for a week, she transmitted the sickness to her mother and then she got rid of it and resumed her normal school schedule. Sofia says, “having the flu feels like she’s dying.”
