For Christmas I want better HealthCare for all.
December 18, 2020
Mildred Valladares, aged 42, has never been one to ask for too much for Christmas but for almost her whole life. Occasionally she’d want a pair of shoes here or there, or a shirt she’s had her eyes on for a while. But this year Mildred’s been wanting something bigger, with that being better HealthCare for all.
“One of the things that I dread the most is going to the Hospital and not knowing how much you’re going to have to pay things you didn’t know would be that expensive, you could go in because of a snake bite and come out with a bill of $12,000 dollars.” Said Mildred when asked what she doesn’t like about the current system.
When asked why she wants better HealthCare, Mildred said:
“I want better HealthCare because I’ve heard about the stories of people who would rather stay at home rather than the hospital whenever they get injured because they know if they go they will have to pay for a bill they know they can’t afford, and I find that very sad.
I asked Mildred what better HealthCare would improve in the world and her response was:
“What better HealthCare would change is that when someone gets hurt or doesn’t feel right, they can go to the hospital without any worries of if they’ll be able to eat for the day or have rent for next month.
The next question for Mildred was what does she think of he situation of the medicine part of HealthCare and her answer was:
“I think that we are being greedy with how much we charge for medicine. People need to pay hundreds of dollars to get the medicine that they need to survive and if they don’t have the money to afford it, they have to suffer, or maybe even die.”
My last question for Mildred was if it were up to her, how would she handle HealthCare? Her answer was:
“Were it up to me, I would make it so that all the hospital visits around the country are covered by the country. By doing that, it would greatly improve many other things in our country such as poverty levels and the amount of people that die each year.”
