HOSA is a club focused on the medical program for students who are interested in the medical field when they get older. The president’s role in the club is to organize meetings, set up events such as the blood drive, and help get field trips together. They participate in events such as school blood drives, competitions, and volunteering at local clinic.
Some field trips attended are clinical trips. The club is about helping young students get into the medical field and get more experience in jobs in the medical field. As of right now the club is trying to get in the Memorial Hospital system to have all its members volunteering in different professions and learning about them.
Natasha Saintilien, a member of the club and the president, expressed that she loves the club. “You get an opportunity to expand your horizon,” she stated. She feels that from this club you will get many recommendations and internships.
The club sponsor is named Veranice Smith, she herself is a nurse on the side. She started working at South Broward High School last school year and she noticed that there was no medical club in the school. So, she took it upon herself to start one her own club. She started the club because she is a nurse and and she wanted to give SBHS students who wants to be in the medical field the chance to learn and grow on new things containing what they will need as they grow expand their career path.
