Ghosting
December 6, 2018
Breaking up is never an easy task for either side. The uneasy feeling in your stomach, not knowing whether or not you’re doing the right thing. Nobody wants to do it face to face. Better to disappear – like a ghost.
Ghosting, or never texting or calling back, is the preferred way to do it today.
For SBHS senior Chance Hall, it was how she dealt with her break up. She was in a month long relationship before she decided she it was time to disappear.
“I don’t know I just got really tired of him,” said Hall
Hall had met Jerry on a girls night out with her friends. He had approached her and asked for her number. He was tall, had a sharp blow-out, and smooth dark skin – so, of course gave it to him.
“He wasn’t a bad guy, he was every girls dream ” said Hall .
After a short time getting to know each other they began dating.
Just a month later she was ready to be single again .
” I tried to stay but I couldn’t, he was boring me and I was ready to move on” said Hall .
But he wasn’t ready to let go so easily. He was willing to fight for his relationship . `
Just a week after she had stopped answering his calls and texts even going so far as blocking him on her social media, he made another instagram account and requested to follow her .
Hall not knowing of his furtive deed had accepted, just a few minutes after he sent her a message but he didn’t reveal his identity.
They had only been conversing for ten minutes once she realized who was on the other side of the screen, once again she stopped replying to his constant messages and blocked him .
“He was real bold for that but he still joined the block party. He got me hesitate to answer any new messages from random accounts, I be thinking he trying to get me get me ” said Hall
That’s one side of ghosting. Here’s the other .
Carlos David has been on the other side of ghosting .
He met her at a SBHS basketball game. Once he saw her he couldn’t stop thinking about her .
“She was short and thick just how I like it. She was light skin with long curly hair, matter fact I don’t think that was hers.”
David says once he got his eyes on her he couldn’t stop looking at her . He goes on to say that after the game he saw her waiting to be picked up.
“I took that as my chance to talk to her, I walked right up to her and said wassup babygirl”
She was staring at her phone and looked at up at the sound of his voice. He explains how he talked to her for a bit until her ride came and he asked for her number .
” I mean she was cool at first but then she started acting funny like she would take forever to text back then she would have some lame excuses about why she took forever. But I was really trying to talk to her so I didn’t pay it no mind.”
David says that after just two weeks she completely stopped answering him.
“I see her around in my hood but I don’t say nothing cause I ain’t sweating her.”
