Ginny & Georgia Review
March 2, 2023
How can a series about a damaged unlovable trailer-park teen murderer mom and her 11 and 15 year old kids have addicted so many teens? Because teens like drama and they want to see it played out on screen. The Netflix series Ginny & Georgia offers all of that and more.
This show gained recognition through its corny scenes that got posted on Tik Tok and brought people’s attention including mine.
The comedy-drama is an original series that started streaming on February 24, 2021, and is rated TV-14. The show is about a mother who had two children when she was 16-years, and is old trying to run away from her dark past. Her older daughter is starting to realize why her mother is constantly moving, and little by little all the secrets are coming out of the closet.
I personally enjoy the show. Every episode ends in a cliffhanger which keeps the audience coming back for more. People from all ages watch it, but it is mainly viewed by teens 14 and up.
The only thing I dislike is the behavior of Ginny, played by Antonia Gentry, toward Georgia, played by Brianne Howey. Her character is very closed minded and only focuses on herself and not how her mother feel about the situation of moving to a new town.
In season two, when Ginny started to find out about her mom’s past, including all she did to give Ginny a better life, she still had the same attitude towards her. She’s very selfish and just thinks everything is about Ginny, but overall when the series starts coming to an end, she does improve the way she acts towards her mom and starts having a better relationship.
Georgia is my favorite character because in the shows she is the cool mom and just her personality in the show made me want to watch it more. Although she was starting to be a little more difficult throughout season two, people from her past came in to her life and she started going back to her old self to be more caring and less anxious. I understand her background and the reason she acts like that, so I think she’s an empowering mother that just wants the best for her children. She just doesn’t want her children to see her at her worst.
Overall, I’d give the Ginny and Georgia series an 8 out of 10. I love the drama and the plot, but I wish the acting was better and more realistic.
