A 14 year old student was arrested yesterday at Hallandale High School last week after it was discovered he brought a loaded gun to school.

A school administrator reported to the school resource police officer that she had seen the student smoking an electronic cigarette in the hallway. The resource officer searched him and found a pellet gun loaded with 5 pellet rounds and a real .38 round in the front pocket of the students book bag.

The school was placed on lock down as a precautionary measure and it lasted about 2 hours.

A spokeswoman for the Broward School District said that there were”no known threats or injuries related to the weapon.”

The student was detained and charged with possession of a deadly weapon on school campus and perjury.
