Is Uber Safe?

Uber is a convenient, inexpensive, and safe taxi service –  or is it?

There were over 100 accidents in 2016 involving Uber drivers attacking their clients, including a woman in North Philadelphia that was beat to death by her driver, and one who shot and killed six people and wounded two others in Kalamazoo, Michigan, all according to the ATS .

Uber states in their terms and services that to ride with Uber you must be at least 18 years old. But most Uber drivers do not follow this rule, due to kids being the people most likely to use the service since they can’t drive. Parents that can’t take their kids to practice or school order Ubers for them- some as young as ten years old.

Berenice Zouga has been an Uber driver for six months and she’s already had some crazy stories.

“The youngest kid I’ve picked up is two siblings that were 10 and 12 years old. They didn’t talk much but neither did I,” she said.

Parents of children under 15 should always make time to pick them up instead of calling an unsafe driving service to do it for them.

You never know who the person driving the Uber could be, all you get is their name and a headshot. This stranger could be the reason you end up as one of the over 100 accidents to befall people who put their trust into Uber.
