Marc Destin

Marc Destin is 70 years old. He was born and raised in Saint-Marc, Haiti. He was named after his hometown. He moved to Broward, Florida in 1999 as an immigrant with no family or friends in America. Growing up, Destin enjoyed going to the beach, going on walks, and sewing clothes. He’s always loved sewing but never made a career out of it. 

Destin had his last daughter when he was 52 years old, she is the only family he has in America.

“She is the best thing that has happened to me, I had to raise her alone, she is my biggest accomplishment, “said Destin.

Destin tries to not stress as much, especially at his age. It’s unhealthy, he wishes he could change it, “I’m always thinking, everyday and all day,” he said.

Destin hopes one day he’s able to start taking his sewing business seriously and his daughter takes on his legacy. 

“The world needs more black entrepreneurs, I love when I see my people doing what others say they couldn’t,” said Destin
