Put yourself First
November 12, 2018
Whether it’s getting an A in your math class or cleaning out your closet this weekend, you might not know it, but self-improvement has always been right by your side to guide you every step of the way.
“Self-improvement is the improvement of one’s knowledge, status, or character by one’s own efforts. It’s the quest to make ourselves better in any and every facet of life.” Said by James Clear. When it comes to self- improvement, it is vitally important that we understand our weak points and are aware of why we want to improve ourselves. Yes, it is true that it is not necessary, but bettering yourself never hurt anyone. “I always had an issue with reading and I always struggled in class, my grades were horrible. Eventually, I got so tired of failing and I started to put more of my time into reading books and improving my writing. Sooner or later I became the student of the month and I honestly would have never suspected that.” Said David Ryabov.
With self- improving, it has been proven that people are more likely to appreciate themselves more and have more self-respect not only for themselves but for others. Improving ourselves gives us self-awareness of how much we can accomplish and do without the negative mindset.
“I think that everyone should dedicate some time towards themselves, yes, if it means that they will become a better and happier person.” Said Joshua Gonzalez.
Behavior also plays a major role in self- improvement. When it comes to behavior, having the best positive attitude towards every problem is a great way to improve yourself according to James Clear. Negative behavior can cause many problems, including leading to depression, anxiety, and stress. This plays a major role in schools as well and the students because behavior can lead to problems academically and with relationships regarding classmates, friends, and teachers. “It is very difficult to concentrate in school when having a bad attitude towards everything and behavior effects everything especially to improve myself,” said Nayeli Rivera.
That being said, there’s always room for self-improvement.
