Softball Season on the Horizon

South Broward’s girls’ softball team claimed a victory during their preseason match on February 5th, 2018.

The game lasted two hours; it started at about 4pm and ended around 6pm. The final score was 6-1 with South Broward securing a good victory before the softball season officially begins. The girls’ softball season is coming up soon, and this year our bulldogs plan to give it their all.

Ryan March is the head coach for the girls’ softball team, and he’s been the head coach for three years now. He believes this softball season will be better than the last softball season.

While the girls’ softball team has lost a couple good seniors because of graduation, new freshmen players are coming onto the team this season. The team has a solid group of seniors that have played for four years, and each member has their own strengths to contribute according to March.

The basic routine for this softball season is to improve on the strengths the team already has, and ensuring each member understands the fundamentals of softball.

“I want to make sure we master the fundamentals, and I want to make sure the team learns the game itself,” said March.

In light of the home game on February 5th, 2018, the team started off the season with a win. While the team’s defense may need to improve, its offense was adequate enough to allow them to gain the upper hand.

While the team had a few shortcomings such as a collision between two of its members due to a lack of communication, some members of the team thought they worked together rather well.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to work together and stay together,” said Sierra Koch, a senior whose currently a member of the team.
