Brianna Baron is a 15-year-old freshmen at South Broward High School. She was born in Fort Lauderdale, her ethnicity is Venezuelan and Peruvian, but she prefers her Venezuelan side. Although this is her first journalism class, she was a photographer for her yearbook club in middle school. Her hobbies include making comics, singing, and acting, which helped her prepare for musical theater club. 

“Taking photos for yearbook in middle school was an exciting experience for me, having the opportunity to create fond memories for others was thrilling,” said Baron

Baron prefers her Venezuelan side over her Peruvian side because she loves her Venezuelan culture more due to the clothing and dancing. She also found it to be less problematic compared to her Peruvian side. She found herself to grow up in a household  filled with much of her culture from both sides, back in her elementary school they used to have hispanic culture day and she dressed up in her Venezuelan dress involving herself in her culture, and showing it to others.

“I prefer my Venezuelan side rather then my Peruvian side because I grew up in a mostly  in a Venezuelan household but also Peruvian, back in elementary I dressed up in my Venezuelan liqui liqui and flag. It just made me feel proud to be their representing my culture,” she said.

To celebrate her quinceanera, she went on a family trip to Rome, France, and Italy. Her favorite part of the trip was going to the Eiffel Tower. She was astounded when she saw the whole view of the city, and that practically everything looked small from high above. 

“It was truly amazing to see all of France from up there, I was kinda a little scared that the Eiffel Tower would like collapse,” said Baron.

 If she had to pick a favorite artist it would be between Good Kid, Mindless Self Indulgence, and Arctic Monkeys. Her favorite album is the K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack. And her favorite musicals are Hamilton, Heathers, Epic and Ride the Cyclone.  

“Although I really do love Hamilton because I love how the sound tract makes history more entertaining,” she said.

Her goals are to pass the AICE exams and Fast Exams so she can get her Cambridge diploma and apply for scholarships, and She wants to improve her writing while also getting at least 250 service hours to be able to join the sliver court.  

“It’s in the family to graduate, and I would be the 3rd to 4th generation to go to college and graduate,” said Baron.
