Emmy Grace is a freshman at South Broward High School, who enjoys writing, which is why she’s so excited for journalism this year.
“Sometimes when I speak, I can’t get the right words out,” she said. “Writing just makes it so much easier for me to voice what I’m thinking.”
Grace considers herself hardworking, but she is much better at subjects she’s interested in. She has always done well in school and takes pride in that. Aside from school, she plays volleyball, and this year will be her third playing if she makes the SBHS girls team. She loves the whole sport: the gameplay, the technique, and practices, but she believes team building and trust on the court are some of the most important aspects of the game.
“I love volleyball. One of my favorite things about it is how much you get to connect with everyone on the team,” she says.
Grace considers herself very outgoing and loves meeting new people. When with friends, she loves going to the beach. “
Walking around on the boardwalk gives me the best feeling. It’s one of my favorite places to be, because there’s so much to do with friends.”
Her friends from musical theater are some of her favorite people. It has been a big part of her life, and she’s been performing since she was very young. She loves the arts and gets her biggest inspiration from her director, Mr. Baldwin. She says that he is a creative, silly person who is passionate and good at what he does. He does what he wants to do, without hesitation. Emmy aspires to be like him in those ways.
She hopes to put all of her personality into her writing this year.
“I’m kind of new to journalism this year.” she says, “but that’s why I signed up… to learn more about it and become a better writer.”
