Gabriela Pineda is a 17-year-old senior at South Broward who took Photojournalism because she is interested in learning more about photography and how to use cameras.
Other than photography, Pineda is interested in art and music, like indie rock and reggaeton. She enjoys listening to reggaeton a lot since she is Hispanic. Her top song right now is “Billie Bossanova” by Billie Eilish. Music is important to her as she’s constantly listening to music wherever she goes.
Pineda’s family is from Nicaragua and she lived there until her family packed up and moved to Florida when she was 5-years-old. Since her family makes a lot of Hispanic food, her favorite dish is Tamales. This way Pineda can stay close to her culture.
Like many teenagers, she hangs out with friends on the weekends and after school, or she stays home and watches a movie or two. She has a job working the front gate at T.Y. Park. Having to work and go to school stresses her out.
“The hardest thing about being a student for me would be juggling work and school, because I don’t have much time for homework or clubs,” said Pineda.
Regardless, she tries her best to make time for everything, including spending time with family and pet hedgehog.
