Giuliana Byrne is a 17-year-old senior at South Broward who was originally born in Canada, but moved to Hollywood when she was 3. Her favorite subject has always been English, finding a particular joy in writing.
“The highlight of every year always ends up being a writing assignment, where I’m given freedom to just write. It’s my favorite thing to do by far,” said Byrne.
In addition to writing, she shares a passion for music as well. Whether it’s listening or even writing her own music, the senior loves it all. Currently, Byrne’s favorite artist is Taylor Swift. She finds inspiration in the singer’s lyricism, inspiring her to make her own writing more descriptive and effective.
Even though she has a passion for these subjects, with the upcoming pressure of college applications, she has had to stray away from them, focusing on her academics. However, the main things that get her through these pressures are still writing and music.
“That’ll never change. The happiness that they give me is surreal,” said Byrne.
Entering her last year at South Broward, the senior has changed her perspective on what courses to choose.
“I want to focus on the things that make me happy this year, because it really matters. That’s why I chose to do journalism. I want to make my last year count,” said the senior.
