Jhony Hernandez is a senior at South Broward, and jumped at the chance to join Journalism when he heard who the teacher was.
“Ms. Mayorga is my favorite at school, so of course I signed up,” he said.
Hernandez grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. When he was 9 he moved to the USA because his country was dangerous and his parents did not want him to live there.
“It would have been bad if I went to high school there,” he said.
He is also a member of the Bulldog’s baseball team, quickly fitting in and earning the nickname “Chucky.”
“I dressed like Chucky for Halloween and they all thought that was funny,” said Hernandez.
Hernandez has a wide range of music he likes, most recently country.
“It’s all we can play at practice since there’s usually no curse words,” he said.
One of his favorite hobbies is watching movies, and the one he rewatches most is “Salt.” The movie by Evenly Salt is about the CIA.
“It’s great because I want to be part of the CIA in the future,” said Hernandez.
He also enjoys the beach, traveling, and any activity he can do with his friends. He finds it easy to be accepted by those around him.
“I just have an outgoing personality,” he said.
