Lance Blumentritt is a 14-year-old freshman at South Broward High School and one of the newest Bulldog Bark staff members. He was born in Tampa and moved to South Florida at two years old, so he’s been living in the area for most of his life. He still has family connections in Chile, where his grandmother grew up and some of his family members still live there to this day. On multiple occasions, he’s even had the opportunity to visit them, the most recent time being just last summer.
Because he has family abroad, he’s grown to love traveling. Be it a road trip, plane ride, or just a quick trip around town, he finds enjoyment in going to different places, especially with his family. Thus far, he’s been to four different countries and over ten different states.
“My favorite destination so far is probably Louisiana. New Orleans is a cool city,” said Blumentritt.
Blumentritt has had an interest in reading and watching the news since he was a child, and is partly the reason he joined journalism.
“I could easily find myself watching the news on television or reading articles online for hours at a time,” said Blumentritt.
He also loves watching soccer, writing, biking, and surfing the internet.
“I love finding random things online to keep myself entertained,” said the freshman.
His expectations for this year are quite high as he hopes to sharpen his journalism and writing skills.
