Rafael Cabiya-Albarran, 17, is a senior at South Broward Highschool. Cabiya moved to Florida in 2014, he’s originally from Puerto Rico and speaks Spanish. He’s been to other places besides Florida and Puerto Rico.
“I’ve been to Wisconsin, Arizona, Texas, and plan to go out and travel the world. Mostly ‘cuz I want to go to Japan,” said Cabiya.
He’s into fantasy-themed stories which explain two of his favorites: his favorite book “The Lord of the Rings”, and his favorite movie, “Star Wars Episode 3.” When he’s not immersed in fantasy, he does other things in his free time.
“Some hobbies I have are going out for early jogs, taking care of my dog Jojo, studying Japanese, and playing video games,” said Cabiya.
The majority of people have someone in their lives that they look up to or idolize. For Cabiya, it’s Vic Mignogna, a voice actor who has worked on several projects such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto Shippuden, and the Dragon Ball series.
An accomplished swimmer, Cabiya started the sport when he was four years olds, and continues to swim to keep in shape. Swimming is a skill that many people have but some don’t. Swimming is usually taught at a young age and for little kids, it is a rather difficult task to accomplish.
