Alex Rivera is a 17-year-old senior at South Broward Highschool. He was hesitant about taking journalism at first but decided getting more experience in photography was worth taking the class. It has been a year since Alex moved back to Miami and started attending South Broward.
“Although I was scared moving back it was probably for the best,” Rivera said.
Before leaving his previous high school Alex was taking Personal finance, a project that was assigned made him question his future career as a Chef.
“I realized that although cooking sounded like such a fun job the reality was, it was not a stable job for the future,” said Rivera.
Since moving Alex has gotten involved in engineering. He is currently pursuing the Gold Seal Vocational Scholarship which requires two certifications in two different programs. He has gotten one and hopes to get that second certification this year. Alex's biggest stressor this year is obtaining the scholarship and getting into Georgia Tech.
