Almendra Gutierrez is a Senior in South Broward High School who moved to Florida from Lima, Peru. She enrolled in Photojournalism with the hopes of learning the technicalities of photography.
The 17-year-old holds officer positions in Math Honor Society, National Honor Society, Latinos in Action, and Multicultural Club. Gutierrez is passionate about soccer. She holds position number 12 in the school’s soccer team as a left back. Her favorite team is Real Madrid.
Even though Almendra struggles with time management, she considers that her academic performance is outstanding.
Her biggest fear is doing things for others instead for herself and her hopes are for her parents to come to the United States someday.
Gutierrez visualizes herself 10 years from now cruising in a yacht in Miami, with a diploma in accounting from her dream university: University of Pennsylvania.
If she could meet anyone in the world it would be Freddy Mercury, “He’s an absolute genius and a legend,” Gutierrez said. She loves all types of music, but her favorite genres include rock, country, electronic, and Latin music.
A fun facts about the Peruvian is that if she could be any person in the world, she would be the queen of England and would choose teletransporting as as her super power.
