The 2018 Oscars featured glamorous dresses, time’s-up pins, expensive suits , and encouraging speeches , along with many well-deserved awards .
And the top winners were:
Best Picture: The Shape of Water – a film about a lonely mute women who works in a high-security government laboratory discovers that there is mysterious scaled creature from South America that the government is hiding .
Best Director: Mexican Guillermo del Toro film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist. Born on October 9, 1964 in Mexico. Raised by his Catholic grandmother, del Toro developed an interest in filmmaking in his early teens. He then learned about make-up and special effects from Dick Smith, he then started working on his short film.
Best actress: Frances McDormando for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter’s murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby, the town’s revered chief of police.
Best actor: Gary Oldman for “Darkest Hour.” This film is about an inspiring true story about World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill must face one of his most defining trials: figuring out a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the liberty and freedom of a nation.
Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph, might host the 2019 Oscars. After the great work that these two women did together, many fans went to social media to call for them to host an award show together.
Lupita Nyong’o and Kumail Nanjiani came clean about their backgrounds and encourages those who are coming from different countries to chase their dreams . Nanjiani’s message to the dreamers are: “To all the Dreamers out there, we stand with you.”
