On Thursday, January 16, the SBHS Lady Bulldogs were the first to take on the Somerset Panthers, with kickoff being at 4:00 pm. South Broward started off strong with Nyla Louis scoring the first goal in the 52nd minute. However, the Panthers would go on to score 3 straight goals, one in the 78th and two back-to-back in the 80th minute. The Lady Bulldogs ended the game 1-3.
Starting at 6:00 pm, the SBHS Boys Soccer team also played the Somerset Panthers. Both teams started off aggressive, but the Bulldogs could not be caged as junior powerhouse Jimmy Asprilla scored two goals. One of which was a bicycle kick off an assist from South Broward’s defender Emilio Francia. The Bulldogs would go on to win 2-0, making their record 16-1 with a 13-game winning streak. Both teams advanced to the district playoffs, where the Lady Bulldogs will take on the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders and the Bulldogs will face off against the Flanagan Falcons.
